SIBA knows how to treat its authors well! Those scheduled for the final event of the indie booksellers’ trade show, “A Moveable Feast,” had a private lunch beforehand, where they could meet each other, practice their elevator speeches, even loosen up with a glass of wine if they wished.

“Courtship” author Martha Fitzgerald was one of 23 authors featured in this literary version of speed dating. Some flew in just for the day … Each sat at a different table, had 6-8 minutes to pitch their book and charm their tablemates, then got up and moved to the next table. They reached  about 30-40 different booklovers and booksellers in the hour alotted, then adjourned to another room for a round of book signing (photo at right).

Fitzgerald shared her signing table with Random House author Melanie Benjamin. Her new book, The Aviator’s Wife, is a fictional account of Ann Morrow Lindbergh and her marriage to Charles Lindbergh. The book will be released in February.
